AFL junior carnival jumps over to the Islands region

first_imgThe carnivals began  in Kavieng on Tuesday at the Court Haus Oval with 14 Junior AFL selections made in Kavieng  with young talented children  aged 13-15 years who participated in the local competition were set into teams to play for selection.Children from other outside centres like Lovangai and Tikanain also traveled into town to participate in the championship.As part of the offer AFLPNG Development Academy also provided fitness tests including height and weight, agility, vertical jumps and 20m sprints were given to assess individuals before the game.The selected  players will be later flown into Port MOresby to train for the upcoming national and international junior championships in 2017 in Queensland.Pacific AFL development manager Ben Drew thanked the families, volunteers and teachers not only those who participated in the carnival, but also those that did a mountainous work in building AFL in Kavieng.The AFL Academy  team will visit Kimbe tomorrow for another junior AFL showdown.last_img
