FRISCO, Texas – Sam Houston State’s Noah Steele and Houston Baptist’s Sara Zrnikova are the Southland Conference Golfers of the Month for September, the league announced Thursday. All Southland Athletes of the Month are presented by Hancock Whitney.Steele closed out September with three tournaments under his belt, finishing within the top 10 at each event. The senior began his haul with a first-place showing at the Sam Hall Intercollegiate in Hattiesburg, Miss. (Sept. 9-10). He followed up with a fourth-place outing at the Trinity Forest Invitational (Sept. 22-24) and tied for sixth place at the Prairie Club Invitational (Sept. 29-30). Steele set a school record with a 63 in the second round of the Sam Hall Intercollegiate and a final score of 195.Zrnikova completed a pair of tournaments registering a 73-stroke average over six rounds of play. Her September resumé consists of play at the USA Intercollegiate in Mobile, Ala. (Sept. 14-16) and the Bearkat Women’s Invitational in Huntsville, Texas (Sept. 30-Oct. 1).
