Middlesex Canal Association To Host Thoreau Lecture On October 27

first_imgBILLERICA, MA — Wilmington residents are invited to the Middlesex Canal Association’s Annual Fall Meeting on Sunday, October 27, 2019 at 1pm at the Canal Museum (71 Faulkner Street, Billerica).The Middlesex Canal Association is hosting a free talk by Robert Thorson, the author of The Boatman: Henry David Thoreau’s River Years. His 2018 talk on Thoreau’s river years is on video in the Internet Archive.This year’s talk will focus on the Concord River, the Billerica dam and Thoreau, timely as the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration wants to remove the dam as a barrier to some fish species.Dr. Thorson is a professor of geology at the University of Connecticut.Like Wilmington Apple on Facebook.
