US Department of Energy (DOE) has released a video to give us a 360° peek at one of the largest indoor wave facilities in the world – the MASK Basin.US Navy’s Maneuvering and Seakeeping (MASK) Basin at Naval Surface Warfare Center in Carderock is being used by US Energy Department’s efforts to accelerate the development of wave energy in the country. The facility is 360 feet long, 240 feet wide, and is equipped with wave maker that is capable of making precise waves for hours, according to DOE.The basin is no stranger to wave energy research. The facility’s ocean engineers built a dedicated structure specifically for wave energy converter (WEC) device testing and hosted the Energy Department’s Wave Energy Prize competition. The competition resulted in four teams meeting the public prize challenge’s goal of doubling the performance potential of wave energy devices, with one team making a five-fold improvement. Also, it serves as a testing ground for wave energy researchers from Sandia National Laboratories. If successful, this technology could one day power millions of US homes, businesses, remote communities, and even military bases by harnessing the energy potential of ocean waves, according to DOE.

Redskins’ Alex Smith reflects on horrific leg injury, says he has to learn to run again Thomas led the NFL with 125 receptions last season, going for 1,405 yards and nine touchdowns. NOLA.com earlier reported that while the two sides are far apart, they are “motivated to get a deal done, hopefully by the start of training camp.” The Saints reportedly are OK with making Michael Thomas the highest paid wide receiver in the NFL, but they’re apparently not willing to go millions per year higher.NOLA.com reported Friday that the Saints are offering Thomas $18 million per year, which would match the five-year, $90 million extension Odell Beckham Jr. signed in 2018 as the most lucrative in the league. Cowboys’ Jason Witten uses Coach K’s Kobe Bryant story as motivation But according to the report, Thomas has dropped his asking price to $22 million per year. The 2018 first-team All-Pro is entering the final season of his rookie contract. That $4 million is a sizable gulf, but you can’t blame either side for their reported figures. The Saints offer would, in fact, give Thomas, 26, the best paycheck in the league for a receiver. But you can’t blame Thomas’ camp for looking at the group of wide receivers that includes Julio Jones and A.J. Green who will soon be signing new extensions that probably will eclipse that.
